Thamani SACCO is a tier-one financial institution. Our operations are strictly supervised by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), the government body mandated to regulate Deposit-Taking Saccos in Kenya.

1. Licensing Status

  • Thamani SACCO Society Ltd is a licensed Deposit-Taking SACCO (DTS) authorized by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).
  • Our license is renewed annually upon meeting the stringent capital adequacy and liquidity ratios set by the regulator.
  • We operate in full compliance with the Sacco Societies Act (2008) and the Sacco Societies (Deposit-Taking Sacco Business) Regulations (2010).

2. Deposit Protection

  • As a SASRA-regulated entity, our members' deposits are protected under the legal framework of the Sacco Societies Act.
  • The SACCO contributes to the Sacco Societies Deposit Indemnity Fund, providing an extra layer of security for member savings.
  • We maintain high liquidity levels to ensure that members can access their withdrawable deposits in accordance with our FOSA policies.

3. Financial Transparency

  • In line with SASRA requirements, we publish our audited financial statements annually following approval by the regulator.
  • We submit monthly and quarterly returns to SASRA to demonstrate our continued financial stability and operational health.
  • Our books of accounts are subject to inspection by SASRA officers at any time to protect member interests.

4. Governance & Conduct

  • All Board members and Senior Management undergo 'Fit and Proper' testing by SASRA before assuming office.
  • We adhere to the General Principles of Co-operative Governance, ensuring ethical leadership and accountability.
  • We maintain a robust Internal Audit function and a Board Audit Committee to monitor risk and compliance.

Member Recourse

In accordance with the Sacco Societies (Complaints Handling) Guidelines, members are encouraged to first raise any grievances with Thamani SACCO management through our official channels. If a resolution is not reached, members have the right to escalate the matter to SASRA through their official website (www.sasra.go.ke).
